Role: Safety, Health and Wellbeing Specialist

Location: Flexible - Role can be based at any of our Head Offices (Murarrie in Brisbane, Port Melbourne in Melbourne or Alexandira in Sydney)

Employment Type: Part-Time, Permanent (four days a week)

We are looking for a Safety, Healthand Wellbeing Specialist who will be responsible for the systems, processes and tools that ensure risk control implementation against key safety, health, and hygiene risks across our network with relation to injury and illness, and the ongoing performance improvement against our safety commitment. The Specialist ill provide advice, coaching and support as well as assurance activities to support compliant risk mitigation controls are in place and working, as well identifying areas for continuous improvement.

 

Your Impact: 

  • Influence organizational strategy for managing health and hygiene risks across the network, emphasising injury and illness prevention and safety commitment.

  • Oversee governance, compliance, and auditing, providing regular progress reports.

  • Lead and advise the SHW team to ensure continuous process improvement and regulatory compliance.

  • Provide technical guidance on incident investigation and risk assessment.

  • Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures in line with statutory obligations and industry best practices.

  • Design and execute safety initiatives, training, and programs to minimise risks.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Safety, Health and Wellbeing, Quality, and Social Inclusion.

  • Engage external stakeholders including public health authorities and regulatory bodies.

  • Work with the business to facilitate the implementation of targeted strategies to promote the wellbeing of children and Goodstarters.

  • Lead and participate in improvement projects and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Maintain knowledge bases for service delivery requirements.

  • Conduct reporting and analysis on injury and illness related incidents to proactively indentify trends in incidences.

You’ll bring to the table: 

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to negotiate with and influence at a senior executive level. 

  • Understanding of the Education and Care National Law and Regulations 

  • Working knowledge of safety legislation across Australia

  • Ability to produce high-level reporting that is meaningful and relevant

  • Qualifications in related field - preferably health and safety

  • Exceptional written and verbal skills.

  • Previous Early Learning experience is desirable, however not necessary.
