Role: NQS Quality & Moderation Specialist

Location: National – Any Capital City Location

As our NQS Quality & Moderation Specialist, you’ll play a critical role in strengthening consistency, confidence and integrity in Assessment & Rating practices. Working at a national level, you’ll lead moderation and calibration, provide expert guidance on the NQF, and turn quality insights into meaningful improvement for children, services and teams.

 

This is a high-impact specialist role for someone who thrives on quality, evidence, and building capability across a geographically dispersed workforce.

 

 

Your Impact:

 

In this role, you’ll be a trusted authority on NQS interpretation and internal A&R assurance. You’ll lead national moderation and calibration processes, ensuring assessments are consistent, evidence-based and aligned with regulatory expectations across all jurisdictions.

 

You’ll strengthen the quality and reliability of internal A&R practice by reviewing assessments, refining tools and conducting assurance checks that lift confidence in ratings and reporting. Through targeted coaching, learning resources and collaboration with the NQS Partner Lead, you’ll build capability and professional judgement across the NQS Partner network.

 

Your analysis of national trends and systemic risks will inform continuous improvement, support regulatory engagement and contribute to Goodstart’s advocacy and quality strategy. Ultimately, your work will help ensure fair, consistent assessments and stronger quality outcomes for children and families nationwide.

You’ll bring to the table:

 

Essential

  • Qualification in Early Childhood Education
  • Deep working knowledge of the NQF, National Law and Regulations
  • Strong experience in Assessment & Rating (internal or external)
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply NQS consistently
  • Strong analytical, reporting and stakeholder communication skills
  • Ability to manage complex priorities and deliver to timeframes
  • Current Working with Children Check for relevant state/territory

 

Desirable

  • Experience in quality assurance, auditing or internal assurance programs
  • Background in regulatory, quality, pedagogical or operations leadership
  • Experience developing capability-building or coaching programs
  • Experience working with regulators or regulatory-aligned frameworks
  • Confidence using digital assurance or reporting systems
