Based at our Goodstart WA Centre Support Office in East Victoria Park, we have a fantastic part-time permanent opportunity available for a Program Manager for our Teacher Program in WA.  Goodstart is committed to providing a robust focus on the development and retention of our network of Teachers. This role provides critical strategic thinking and tactical approach to reaching our goals of retaining and growing a world class cohort of dedicated teachers. The Teacher Program includes 5 key work streams that aim to attract, support, engage and retain teachers during the lifecycle of their careers. Your pivotal role will be responsible for leading the overall development, coordination and implementation of the program in Western Australia in collaboration with the Head of Teacher Program, other state based Program Managers and our General Manager of Pedagogy and Practice.  

Your key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Working closely with the State Manager to plan and deliver state priorities aligned to national work streams
    Being part of the State Leadership Team, reviewing and reporting program achievements to state-based senior leadership
    Working closely and collaboratively with the Head of Teacher Program and Program Managers in the other States and Territories to design, develop and implement new work, and ensure the continuation of work already developed. This includes responsibility around the 5 key streams:
    • Induction: Ensuring all new teachers are provided with comprehensive and relevant induction support.
    • Mentoring: Ensuring graduate teachers are supported through a mentoring program to move to full teacher registration.
    • Partnerships and pathways: working with universities to ensure positive preservice teacher placements in our centres.
    • Professional Learning: Facilitating teacher learning communities and teacher conferences.
    • Teaching and Learning: Ensuring that teachers understand their responsibilities in relation to curriculum development across all age groups.
  • Ensuring alignment of the program with Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, National Quality Framework (NQF) and other relevant national and state legislation 
  • Increasing the professional identity and leadership capacity of teachers.
  • Working collaboratively with a range of internal stakeholders to establish effective support practices and programs for our Teacher cohort
  • Researching and implementing legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements relating to Teachers' professional standing

 Your skills and experience will include:

  • Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) (Mandatory)
  • Post graduate qualifications in early childhood education or related field (desirable)
  • Comprehensive understanding of the National Quality Framework, Early Years Learning Framework
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and WA teacher registration requirements
  • Program management and/or program coordination experience in an education field
  • Previous experience in working in adult learning environments
  • Previous experience in the tertiary field (desirable)
  • Hold WA Teacher registration
  • Previous experience working in the early years as a teacher (ideally also with long day care experience)
  • Experience working in a large organisation (desirable)
