As our ICT Data Engineer, you'll play a key role in building scalable data solutions that enable trusted reporting, advanced analytics and informed decision-making.

 

Reporting to the Lead BI Specialist, you'll work across the full data lifecycle - from data ingestion and transformation through to modelling and delivery. Working alongside Business Intelligence Specialists and Data Architects, you'll develop modern data solutions that support enterprise reporting, business insights and future data initiatives

Your Impact

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric and modern data engineering practices.
  • Develop robust SQL solutions, ETL processes and data models that support enterprise reporting and analytics.
  •  Integrate, transform and model data from APIs and other enterprise data sources using Python.
  • Support the ongoing evolution of Goodstart's modern data platform, ensuring reliable, secure and high-quality data.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence Specialists, Data Architects and business stakeholders to deliver practical data solutions.
  •  Drive continuous improvement through automation, improved data quality and operational efficiencies.
  • Contribute to enterprise data architecture and engineering best practices.
  • Enable trusted, data-driven decision making that supports children, families and Goodstarters across Australia.

You'll bring to the table

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Data Engineer, SQL Developer or Data Warehouse Developer within a complex environment.
  • Advanced SQL development skills with experience designing complex data models and ETL processes.
  • Hands-on experience with Python and integrating data from APIs and external data sources.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric or similar cloud-based data engineering platforms.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing, data modelling and modern data engineering practices.
  • The ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions while collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A proactive, self-driven approach with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage priorities autonomously.
  • Experience working within Agile environments. Experience with Power BI, SAP HANA or SAP Data Services will be highly regarded.
