Role: Systems Developer

We’re looking for a skilled ICT Systems Developer who wants to do more than just write code. You’ll help shape the digital foundations that support our people, our centres and the families we serve, designing and building solutions that make a real difference every day.

 

Our Role:

As a Systems Developer, you’ll design, develop and support high‑quality digital solutions across our integrated system landscape. You’ll dive into user stories, change requests and incidents, turning complex requirements into clean, scalable, secure solutions.

 

You’ll work closely with our Enterprise Architect, ICT Tech Lead, business analysts and system analysts, and you’ll collaborate with teams across CSO, Centre Leadership, Infrastructure, Security, Data & Analytics, and our vendors.

 

This role suits someone who enjoys end-to-end ownership, from interpreting requirements through to solution design, development, testing and ongoing support.

 

Your Impact:

In this role, you will:

  • Develop system integrations, workflows and business logic using modern tools and engineering practices
  • Contribute to technical documentation to ensure systems are maintainable and scalable
  • Analyse and solve complex problems with practical, forward-thinking solutions
  • Leverage modern tools (including AI-assisted development) to improve efficiency and quality
  • Ensure solutions meet business needs, technical standards and security requirements
  • Support testing, quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Identify opportunities to enhance performance, stability and system reliability
  • Collaborate in Agile ways of working, including stand-ups, sprint planning and backlog refinement
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Deliver solutions that support day-to-day operations across our centres and support teams

You’ll bring to the table:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering or a related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience across the software development lifecycle (design, build, test, deploy, support)
  • Strong experience with .NET/C#, Visual Studio Code, JavaScript or TypeScript, REST APIs, SQL, Git
  • Ability to translate requirements into practical, well-designed technical solutions
  • Experience working in Agile environments and managing your own workload
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Current QLD Blue card

Desirable:

  • Experience with Azure (Functions, API Management, DevOps, Data Factory)
  • CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, or modern authentication (SAML, OAuth, JWT)
  • Front-end frameworks like React or Angular
