Role: Legal Counsel

Our Role:

As Legal Counsel, you will play a key role in supporting Goodstart’s business operations through the delivery of timely, accurate and commercially focused legal advice across a variety of legal matters.

 

Working closely with the General Counsel and stakeholders across the organisation, you will support legal research, drafting, negotiations, compliance activities and risk management initiatives while ensuring Goodstart continues to operate within relevant legal and regulatory frameworks.

 

You will contribute to complex legal matters, support the management of external legal advisers, and provide guidance that balances legal obligations with the practical and commercial needs of the organisation.

Your Impact:

  • Provide practical legal advice and support across business operations
  • Draft, review and prepare legal documentation, contracts and correspondence
  • Conduct legal research and contribute to complex legal matters and negotiations
  • Support the management of external legal advisers and legal costs
  • Represent the organisation appropriately in courts and tribunals where required
  • Translate complex legal concepts into clear and practical advice for stakeholders
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Support compliance, governance and organisational risk management initiatives
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and legal process enhancements
  • Provide support, guidance and knowledge sharing within the broader legal team

You'll bring to the table:

  • Bachelor of Laws from a recognised institution (Essential)
  • Admission to practice as a solicitor in Australia or overseas jurisdiction (Essential)
  • Previous experience as a Legal Counsel or within a similar legal environment
  • Strong ability to provide commercially focused and practical legal advice
  • Experience drafting and reviewing legal documents and managing legal matters
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly
  • Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing competing priorities
  • High level of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct
  • Experience supporting governance, compliance or risk management activities will be highly regarded
  • Current QLD Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
