The Role

The Employee Relations team are focused on delivering value to the business through a shared services model, providing high quality human resources and employee relations advice to the business. 

In this role, you will support management with specialist advice on a range of employee relations matters following escalation of matters from the first level people stream contact agents. This position will see you providing services such as:

  • Expert case management for complex employee relations matters such as performance counselling, investigations and managing ill and injured employees
  • Expert and timely advice in relation to the interpretation and application of company Enterprise Agreement, policies and procedures, employment-related legislation and industrial instruments
  • Increasing the capability of business leaders in areas of employee and industrial relations through education, coaching and advice to enable self-management of employee relations issues
  • Ensure employee relations issues are managed in line with broader people and culture strategy and business objectives
  • Support continuous improvement by making recommendations on policy, process and system improvement
  • Complete all associated administration such as generating reports, updating business critical documents and the management of the knowledge bank for the first level people stream, reference guides, and coaching material 

Skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in industrial relations, human resources or employment law (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated experience in managing employee and industrial relations issues
  • Sound understanding of employment legislation and ability to interpret industrial instruments
  • Strong influencing and persuasive skills with a natural ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to build and develop strong working relationships with multiple stakeholders and a strong drive to deliver optimal business outcomes
  • Skilled in the provision of tactical employee relations advice by phone and email, with the ability to prioritise and negotiate deadlines, and develop creative effective solutions to resolve people challenges and issues.
