Centre:  Goodstart SOMERVILLE

Employment Type:  Casual shifts Monday to Friday between 6:30am and 6:00pm 

Pay:  $33.38ph - $37.59ph + Regional Locailty Allowance

As a Casual Educator at Goodstart, you will be a team player, who is flexible and willing to support our centres and children when and where required. You put safety first with everything that you do and ensure all learning experiences are inclusive and respond to the needs of all children.   

You’ll achieve this by: 

• Actively contributing to the education program in the room and the centre team 

• Engaging and supervising the children at all times 

• Maintaining a safe environment for children, families and team members 

• Building and maintaining strong, positive relationships with children and families 

• Complying with National Quality Standards and Goodstart policies and procedures 

• Supporting a culture of reflective practice and ongoing continuous improvement 
   

About Goodstart Somerville: 

Goodstart Early Learning Child Care Centre Somerville is located in the Goldfields, close to local schools, shops and community facilities.

We are the only Goodstart centre in the region and as such we pride ourselves on the quality of childcare and early learning we provide.

Our programs give children a strong sense of identity and well-being, meaning they are well placed to become confident and involved learners.

We acknowledge that children learn in a variety of ways and vary in their capabilities and pace of learning. We encourage children to have fun in a safe, secure and well supervised environment. We make sure that we build strong friendships with families and include them in all our special events.

Inside, all of the rooms - from Nursery to Kindergarten / Preschool - are all set up in line with an Early Years Learning Framework, with sensory and play based learning opportunities. Colourful, stimulating surrounds ensure the children have the chance to grow and develop through sensory, play-based learning; and we are focused on ensuring the children are ready to take that all important step up to school.

Our centre was assessed by the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority and we received an overall rating of ‘Exceeding’. This process is a National Framework, which rates all Childcare Centres across Australia against the National Quality Standards.

Our Storypark platform, as well as regular family nights and emailed newsletters, enable us to stay in close contact with parents and families, ensuring open and clear communication. This also means we can tailor each program to the child’s individual needs, interests and strengths – as well as the strong level of cultural diversity in our centre.

Outside, we have age appropriate play spaces and equipment, all geared to enhance the children’s awareness of their surrounds and the greater environment, as well as their understanding of the importance of sustainability. With a balance of natural and manmade play surfaces, lots of shade and stimulating, interesting equipment such as sandpits, climbing gear and running areas, we are well positioned to ensure the children stay entertained.

Community is also important to us and through visits to the centre and participation in events and activities throughout the year we are able to enrich the learning experience. Art and music experiences are provided on a daily basis which allow the children to freely express their creativity.
